The Holiday Inn is in 2.3 miles by road from Manchester Airport, which is about 5 minutes’ drive.  The hotel is on the edge of Styal Country Park and it isn’t troubled by any aircraft noise.

Parking at the hotel is free whilst you’re staying there.  After that, there is a charge.  The hotel offers holiday parking packages, with special rates that combine a room for the night with long term parking.  The car park is outside and covered by CCTV.

Check-in/out and breakfast

You can check in any time after 2 pm and check out in the morning by 11 am.  The Holiday Inn realises that some people have very early flights to catch, so they kindly put on a Continental Breakfast from 4 am.  The full English Breakfast also starts pretty early, at 6 am.

Shuttle bus

There’s a shuttle bus running to and from the terminal. It costs £3 for a single trip or £5 return and children are £1.  The bus runs every 20 minutes from 4 am to 11 pm.  It takes about 20 minutes to get to the terminal, because it stops at other hotels.  If you got in a taxi it would only take 5 minutes.

Hotel facilities

WiFi access is available in all areas of the hotel.  There’s a charge for this though – £10 per day. They have conference facilities for up 250 people and extensive leisure facilities including pool, gym, sauna, steam room and squash courts – so if you’re feeling energetic before your holiday you’ll have plenty to do!  If you just want to chill out, there’s a restaurant and bar, and you can order room service instead of coming downstairs if you prefer.

Guest rooms

There are 126 bedrooms altogether.  The options are doubles, twins, singles or family rooms, which have a double bed and a sofa bed for up to 2 children under 12. Choose an executive room if you want more space and a separate seating area.  These rooms also have the added luxuries of mini bar, bath robe, slippers and upgraded toiletries. All the bedrooms are en suite with bath and shower and you’ll be able to make yourself a nice cup of tea or coffee and settle down to watch some satellite TV or a pay per view movie.  They can even bring you up something to eat if you order room service.

Blue badge parking bays have been marked out at the front of the hotel. There are 2 double disabled bedrooms, which can be booked with an interconnecting twin room if required. The hotel’s facilities are fully accessible with ramps to all areas and there is a walk in shower in the leisure club.

The nearest train station is at Manchester Airport.  When you arrive, you can either catch the shuttle service to the hotel or get in a taxi.  It’s 5 minutes drive, but the shuttle takes up to 20 minutes due to other stops.   If you’re coming by car, turn off at Junction 6 of the M56 and take the A538 towards Wilmslow.  The Holiday Inn is about 1 mile along this road on the left hand side.

Airport views

There aren’t any airport views from the hotel itself, but it is within 10 minutes’ walking distance of some great vantage points.  The Manchester Airport Aviation Viewing Park is just off the A538 (the same road the hotel is on) between Junction 6 of the motorway and the airport tunnels.  There are mounds along the runway which are some of the best planespotting points in Europe. From dawn until mid afternoon, you can get lovely line up shots on the threshold of runway 23L.  You can also fantastic shots of the planes touching down on runway 06 when it’s in use.  There are footpaths and markers showing you where to go.
